Having been a fan of Dexter since I first heard Dexter Calling probably in '66 or '67, and knowing Dexter personally at the time he lived in Copenhagen, I find the new site a great asset. There may be some who have heard the private recordings I did with Dexter in Kalundborg, Denmark on February 22 or 23, 1969. But keep up the god work. The site is tremendous! I have been listening to Dex for the past 20 some years and cherish each and every album and CD of his that I own. As a tenor player, I consider LTD my musical Daddy and try to emulate his approach to tunes. hey. i just visited this site today for the 1st time. i think its wonderful to see the interest in jazz music proliferating. dexter gordon was a tremendous influence in jazz history. his tone is distinctively rich and powewrful. one flight up is my favorite album. being a sax player i still struggle with tempos. it is artist like dex that have set the standards of excellence in technique and conception that we continue to follow. ralph gibson Added: June 3, 2007 X |
