I met Dexter in Manchester when he played in the "Band on the Wall" pub. A friend of mine owned the place and introduced us. A musical landmark for me. We all went for a meal after the set. Its about time somebody speak for this great man. he has influenced so many great players on all instruments, includibng some jazz vocalist. I will be a constant visitor to thjis site to keep up with some of the anecdotes or impressions by the many fans for this gigantic legend. My father turned me on to Dexter Gordon about 1963, playing a record that began with Billy Higgins unforgetable words! Soy Califa! It was "on" after that to this day. That whole album is Crazy man!
