Great site. Dexter is a second cousin of mine. His Mother Gwen and my Grandmother Myrtle were sisters.

I am an old man now and have been an avid fan of Dex since the 1960's. I consider "his" trio (Dex, Kenny Drew, and NHOP) to be the greatest group that ever performed. (Those lucky "Danes"!) I believe that I have about everything that group recorded for SteepleChase and I never cease to be thrilled to hear those performances - over and over again!

Dex is my favorite Tenor player. Wish I could have had the pleasure of meeting him.

Mr. Gordon was my first 'big' influence as a musician, and remains in the #1 spot.

The first time I saw Dexter Gordon in 'Round Midnight, the first thing that occurred to me: that this manner of execution? Who is playing? This is the best tenor of the world (s)? But gradually getting acquainted with the work of Dexter, I realized that the first opinion of him was wrong. Dexter Gordon, tenor genius. His music - a night city, a drop of rain on the pavement, do not tell me anything until the play Dexter.

Thank you Dexter Gordon)
