I am a trumpet player and was introduced to Dexter via Woody Shaw. I must say that I love the style and sound and can hear no one else but these two giants whenever I play. Added: December 24, 2005 X |

Dex was one of great historically innovative giant jazz stylists with a warm, swinging personal voice and signature. It was a blessing and pleasure to have had the opportunity of performing and recording with him. I also miss his sense of humor. Long live "Long Tall Dex"! Added: December 23, 2005 X |

Dexter Gordon is awesome. Even though I play trumpet, Dexter has still influenced how i play and think about music. My favorite DG solo has to be on "Willow Weep for Me" from the album "Our Man in Paris". Every track on that record is worth the price of the cd alone. Im only 18,so DG has been long gone b4 i ever came around, but i truly wish i could have seen him live. Added: September 21, 2005 X |
