Dexter Gordon is awesome. Even though I play trumpet, Dexter has still influenced how i play and think about music. My favorite DG solo has to be on "Willow Weep for Me" from the album "Our Man in Paris". Every track on that record is worth the price of the cd alone. Im only 18,so DG has been long gone b4 i ever came around, but i truly wish i could have seen him live.

Dexter was and is the epitome of gracious cool. The movie "Round Midnight" was a transcendental experience. I was fortunate to have seen Dex live once, in the early 80s. It was early on in the development of my musical consciousness, but not so early that I wasn't nearly overwhelmed by the richness and beauty of his musicianship and the music itself.

God Bless Dexter!

Dexter was great. His music is so alive. I wish I could have been in paris sitting in the smoke- filled club when he recorded my favorite ...his work entitled 'OUR MAN IN PARIS'. Does ANYBODY out there have knowledge on how I can obtain the sheet music/score of this great work 'OUR MAN IN PARIS'? If so, please email me the info as fast as you can. [eric.edwards@dfas.mil] Thanks for the great music Dexter ...and thanks to whomever gets me info on where/how I can obtain the aforementioned sheet music/score. I understand it is out of print, but where there is Dexter there's a way.

Just finished and posted a review of the reissue CD "Daddy Plays The Horn" on Jazzreview.com . This new site should have a section for reviews of Dexter's CDs for those people unfamiliar with his work and who would like to buy a CD.Looking forwards to the final site.

Dexter Gordon's music is a immense source of inspiration for me for many years! I think that Jazz would be very different today without him. Looking forward to this website! Thanks!

Playing the tenor was just a "natural" thing for Dexter.
I met him at Walter Booker's studio at 86th and Amsterdam, not long before his demise.
I love this "Mahna De Carnaval"....
