Every melody ever written needs to be re-invented by Dexter for at least three choruses.

Who swung harder than Dexter yet could articulate a ballad in a way that you knew he was speaking from a special place? Could Bop have had a better annunciator of what it meant for the saxophone? There is a missing link between Bird and Trane and Dexter provided it...giving these greats a natural bridge while defining his own place as a giant both here and abroad. We can only hope that some of the young lions coming up take the time to appreciate what it means to have a lyric***ellect that spanned the language of jazz with a fluency of a master interpretor!

Dexter Gordon to me was one of the greatest icons of the jazz world. He had a unique style that makes me fascinated. I am studying saxophone and I hope a day to play their music.
