Dexter, thank you for being who you were. The notes you played, the ones you didn't and your amazing smile inspired me to buy a used tenor sax a few weeks ago. I put my alto down 30 years ago for a guitar. I'm having great time. I think of you when I play. All the love. Added: February 27, 2008 X |

I met Dexter in Mexico City in the 70's as label exec for CBS Records at that time, I have always been a fan of his work, I also met and toured Woody Shaw during that same period. Added: February 27, 2008 X |

February 27th 2008. Today is the day when the greatest son of America was born in 1923. The man of incomparable integrity and the outer-wordly ability to raise the mood of everyone present and leave a lasting impression without equal. A very few people has been blessed with such prominent quality. Dexter Gordon -The divine messenger of human excellence. Even Rostropvich said you spoke very well. Your still very much with us. Happy Birthday my immortal friend !! !!! With the deepest respect, Nils Edström. Added: February 26, 2008 X |

Thanks for creating a cool site! Dexter is a mighty jazz tenor titan. His muscular tone, creativity, sense of swing, superb technique and good humor can be found in all his recordings. I wish i could've seen him perform. His verbal banter and song announcements from his live Danish radio recordings bring a smile to my face. He truly was the epitome of jazz cool (Miles can't touch him). Keep up the good work. Added: February 22, 2008 X |
