I must say, I didn't really know about DG until my Dad took me to see "'Round Midnight". What an impression it left on me! I was in high school at the time, and still learning some of the finer details of jazz music. I bought the soundtrack album to the movie, of course. The rest of DG's discography followed. I found "GO!" right off the bat. It's possibly his best album as a whole. I'm a dedicated DG fan for life.

Thank You, Dexter, wherever you are, for your musicianship, and for sharing it with us all.

What can one ever say about such staggering grateness. He was the epitomy of The Jazz Tenor, and from the way he played I'm sure he was an absolutely wonderful person. No tenor sax player can ever equal his playing on ballads ( "Darn that Dream" ), and the vocab. of quotes, and the way he swung, and burned is truly epic. Long live Long tall Dex.

I have been a fan of Dexter Gordon for years. He is absolutely one of the giants of jazz. He not only was a beautiful sax player but a beautiful man as well. God bless.

The first time I heard about Dexter Gordon was in the movie Round Midnight. Unfortunetely, I know too little about Jazz, bepop... my father is composer and musician in my country, he was the one who introduced me to this movie (Round Midnight). Dexter is an inspiraton to me, in my opinion the best "convincing" actor I've ever seen, he's a dream. He had a genuine melancolia and a joy in his eyes, that is disturbingly inspiring to me and that I'll never forget. It makes me really sad to think that I will never have the chance to meet this man.
Love you, Dexter and thank you.

Dexter Gordan was truly one of the great ones. The movie "Round Midnight" should give many the nerve to explore his music. This website is great! I will pass on to others.

God Bless
