Royal Museum of Belgium to Host Dexter Gordon's Tenor Saxophone

Blue Note Records celebrates its 75th Anniversary (2014)
2014: The Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels, Belgium will host Dexter Gordon's Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone (1973-1990) - the same horn Dexter played in the film Round Midnight. It will be displayed at the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels for the bicentennial (200th anniversary) saxophone exhibit of Adolphe Sax (inventor of the saxophone) beginning in February 2014.
2014: Dexter Gordon spent years living and performing in Paris, France. In 1986, he was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the French film, Round Midnight and was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. Next year, 2014, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of his legendary Blue Note recording, Our Main Paris.
2014: Blue Note Records will turn 75 on January 6, 2014, which is the anniversary of the very first recording session on the label. Dexter Gordon was one of Blue Note's most popular artists with 5 albums on the label. Next year, Blue Note celebrates Dexter and many other artists. Stay tuned for details.
